New Zealand Celtic band smash hit on Internet: listen to 'Lothlorien' - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

Peter Jackson is said to be looking for a Celtic sound in the music he uses for 'The Lord of the Rings' movies. We've been contacted by many bands interested in snagging that vital end-credits song spot, but if Mr. Jackson wants to continue highlighting the great resources of his beloved New Zealand, he may need look no further than 'Lothlorien', a New Zealand group who, snubbed by record companies, have been entertaining up to 3,000 people a day at MP3.Com.

Lothlorien's songs are haunting, enchanted, and perhaps exactly the kind of music Tolkien would have loved in a Celtic environment. "She moved through the fair" is slow and melodic, and draws the listener into a world of romance with subtlety and that ethereal quality that well-done Celtic music aspires to achieve.

The group has been profiled by The New Zealand Herald Online. Radio stations in the United States have contacted the band to ask permission to play their songs, and they have been approached by film-makers who want to use their songs in soundtracks for short films.

Many Tolkien fans will undoubtedly fall in love with "Lothlorien" all over again. You can almost see the mallorns dancing slowly in the timeless breeze....
