The Independent criticizes Times Cate Blanchett article - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

The Independent took note of its rivals' mistakes in print and provided a catalogue of recent gaffes from United Kingdom media.

"Pandora recalls a 'Tolkien sarcasm site' at www.speakeasy.org," the article says, "which provides crib sheets and synopses for the terminally lazy. Here, tetchy compilers, at the end of their tether with homework avoiders, mislead the uninformed with phoney precis. Unfortunately, the dear old Times seems to have fallen for them hook, line and sinker. 'They are pastiches,' explains Tolkien society spokesman, Ian Collier, 'and completely incorrect.'"

Ian Collier is no stranger to media gaffes. He has been misquoted in more than one source as saying that the Tolkien Society intended to debate the changes in Arwen's character for the upcoming movies.
