A German Language site attributes the report to USA Today, but a search of the USA Today site only brings up the article from August 11 which suggests that New Line would be a good match.
Nice picture of Thora Birch in chainmail, though.
Just to be sure, we looked at DND Movie.Com but there is no news there yet as the Webmaster went to GenCon and hasn't updated the site in the past few days.
If USA Today's speculations pan out, New Line Cinema will dominate the Christmas 2001 movie season with the release of the two most highly anticipated fantasy films outside the Star Wars genre in history. New Line's involvement with the "Dungeons and Dragons" film, however, would be considerably less than its involvement with Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" movies.
NOTE: We've just found a headline on Variety.Com which implies New Line has picked up the picture, but the page loads with errors for us. Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News attributes Variety as the source for his report that New Line has picked up the film distribution rights.
