The two Sir Ians may land roles in another New Zealand film - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings
September 05, 2000 at 01:24:57Tolkien-movies.com seems to have scooped everyone in reporting that both Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Ian Holm may land roles in a historical New Zealand film in 2001.
Carrying as-yet unreleased articles from local publications, the New Zealand Web site reports that Invercargill film-maker Mark Winter plans to go into the business full-time in connection with the project, and that the film is based on the true story of five New Zealand soldiers who were executed for desertion in World War I.
The New Zealand parliament is reportedly considering a posthumous pardon for the soldiers. The film may reveal some new material, said to be controversial.
