Cirdan unveils German LOTR board game - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

September 05, 2000 at 01:55:02

The much-discussed board game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, with artwork by artist John Howe, has been reviewed by Cirdan on his German-language Web site.

The article is also appearing on Spielbox-Online.de, which also provides a translation link that brings up this page.

The translated page doesn't make much sense, so we thought we'd put it through Alta Vista's Babelfish (which, sadly, doesn't do well in translating English to Deutsch, according to our German readers). The result is a javascript-based page we cannot link to, but here is the translated text. Between the two, you may be able to figure out what the game is about. But the pictures are pretty.

Sauron, which is as meat-become... - no, play-stone black eye in the play, only thus can be defeated. As version also a competitive play is offered, whereby " the competition " is limited to the point distribution.

To the further material cards of the most diverse type, elevation bit cards, Gandalfkarten, local cards, to it to event small card, belong life wafer, sign and naturally also " the ring to drive and eternally bind it to farmhands to find it all in the darkness in the country Mordor, where the shadows drone. "
