Southland Times interviews hobbits by phone - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

The Southland Times has published a brief interview with Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, conducted by telephone.

Although no critical information was revealed, Wood did mention he expected to return to New Zealand next year to reshoot some scenes.

The article says the four hobbit actors, Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Sam Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Peregrin Took), and Dominic Monaghan (Meriadoc Brandybuck), have become inseparable friends during their year of filming together, even taking vacations together.

Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" production is scheduled to finish primary photography around Christmastime this year, but the first movie, "The Fellowship of the Ring", won't be released until December 14, 2001.
