New Line Cinema takes on Queenstown Festival - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

Several Tolkien movie news sites have reported that New Line Cinema is sponsoring the Wellington Film Festival in July while the movie production is on winter hiatus. The Otago Daily Times is reporting that the four actors and one producer from Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" production who are expected at the festival will also attend the Hollywood Ball, part of the Queenstown Winterland Festival, on July 21.

Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Sam Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Pippin Took), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), and Barrie Osborne have been named guests of honor for the highlight of the Winter Festival.

"They are expected to attract international paparazzi, with pictures of the famous ball-goers featuring in women's magazines," the Daily Times reports. No doubt the pictures will be scanned and carried on several of the Tolkien movie news sites, but which one will get the secret darkroom leaks?

Tolkien fans who have gleefully bashed the Disney Company as unsuitable for producing any film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings should take note: the Daily Times says Barrie Osborne, the producer who will be participating in the New Zealand festivities, worked on 15 movies for Walt Disney Pictures, including "The Color of Money", "Tin Men", and "Good Morning, Vietnam".

Some scenes for "The Lord of the Rings" were filmed in the Queenstown area last year.
