Exclusive: Pictures from the London production of 'The Hobbit' - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

Some of our friends in the United Kingdom took time out of their busy schedules to send us some spectacular pictures of the 'Hobbit' play about to open in London.

These pictures are taken from Vanessa Ford Productions' "The Hobbit", which will be premiering at the Queen's Theatre in London's West End on December 12, following a successful national tour. The play was adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit by Glyn Robbins and is directed by Roy Marsden.

Bilbo Baggins is about to make history as he crawls along the darkened tunnels of the Goblin Town in the high Misty Mountains. What's this? A ring? One small fumble for a hobbit, one great debacle for a dark lord in the making, and the doom of a mighty dragon is set into motion.

The bickering Dwarves are in for a rude surprise after Bilbo awakens the dragon. They still have to figure out how to claim their long-lost treasure, and how to defend it from all the scavengers sure to come if and when Smaug is destroyed. Burglary is not the most profitable line of trade.
