Okay, where is all the LOTR promotional art again? - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

With Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" movies prodution going on winter hiatus, one would think there should be a dearth of new news and all the Tolkien movie Webmasters could go on a well-earned vacation. But in what appears to be a decision of good timing or the provident arrangement of fate, New Line Cinema has taken a more direct hand in creating movie-related news.

In their Monday, June 20 article listings, Cinescape Online's Insider News introduces the latest LOTR movie promo poster under the title of "'Rings' Promo Art" (Cinescape has managed to prevent deep linking to their articles, so you have to use their navigation system to find specific references). The poster has been published in several trade publications, Cinescape says.

TheOneRing.Net has an article about promotional materials which were provided to an unspecified company by New Line Cinema. The artwork shows a silhouetted rider overlooking a landscape and the shadow of a Balrog cast over a circle of runes. Variations of this promotional artwork has actually been published by New Line Cinema on the Official Lord of the Rings Web site.

Joram Manka has published scans of a LOTR promotional bookmark given out at this year's licensing show (one wonders when the Frodo hand puppets will show up on the Web).

Dark Horizons brought to light a trade show poster with new artwork from the 2000 licensing show. It shows Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins) looking off the page, superimposed over an image of the Fellowship trekking down a hillside (probably the same image that has been widely publicized but now recolored in darker tones). A menacing group of Nazgul on horses ride in hot pursuit below Frodo.

Imladris reports that to promote their sponsorship of the Wellington Film Festival from July 14 - 30 New Line Cinema has reissued an early LOTR promotional poster that shows a cloaked horseman (a Nazgul?) in a grass-covered land.
