Are these Ents or not?
Here is the scan from Tolkien-Movies.Com (it seems to be the same image on all three sites). Just click on the link and a new browser window will open for you with the image in it.
There is a very hazy face on the left side in two pictures which might look something like an Ent. The side profile doesn't look complete or Ent-like, but it may only be a facial rendering for use in generating expressions.
Above the larger scans is a smaller scan of the same three images but there is a fourth picture which seems to depict a humanoid bust. If that is any indication of the final form this cannot be an Ent (and if it's an Ent-wife, Tolkien purists will howl).
Are these scans from WETA? No one is saying so far. If they are LOTR-related, for all we know they are derived from some game -- perhaps even a long-abandoned game.
Spies are scouring the Net now, looking for clues, and doubtless phones are ringing off the hook in various homes and offices. Fax machines are probably spitting out a single question across the world: Are these Ents?
Our guess: probably not. But enquiring minds want to know for sure.
