In a news story reported on Yahoo! Daily News, Variety notes that New Line Cinema is looking into alternative options for promoting its upcoming December 19 release of Peter Jackson's "The Fellowship of the Ring", the first of three "Lord of the Rings" movies.
Bruce Willis, whose latest movie "Bandits" premiered this weekend with a dismal $13.1 million box office catch to clinch the no. 2 spot in weekly box office rankings, was scheduled for television appearances to promote the movie. The media's focus on the latest terrorist scares over Anthrax letter attacks has forced the cancellation of more television programming.
New Line Cinema may go ahead with radio and newspaper ads, and sending a promotional DvD to reporters, in an effort to generate as much advance publicity for the "Fellowship" movie as possible.
