The statue can be seen in pictures posted at TheRealmoftheRing. The "guardian" is holding a hammer and a curved horn. The architectural style is reminiscent of that which J.R.R. Tolkien used for Numenorean and Sauronian architecture, and the fortress at Helm's Deep was originally built by Gondor.
However, this may actually be part of the Minas Tirith set, and the statue could be a statue of Aule, or of a Numenorean warrior from Gondor's past. Alan Lee has depicted Minas Tirith as a crumbling city with many statues, and this part of the set may reflect his influence.
Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" production should resume filming in a few weeks and the Minas Tirith set(s) will be used later this year.
