Once again, fans have been semi-officially informed of a completely unheard-of set of instrumental pieces used as background music in the internet trailer for Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings".
Xenite.Org was told the music came from the "Joan of Arc" soundtrack, but fans couldn't place the music on the soundtrack. Cirdan over in Germany posted another announcement recently with a different selection. And now TheOneRing.Net offers up the latest explanation, saying the music is drawn from three other sources (including an original composition).
Perhaps all these official and semi-official revelations are intended to keep fans going back to download the trailer just to listen to the music.
All these announcements may continue to keep interest in the trailer music alive, but the whole thing may backfire in the end. Will the films' soundtrack sound as good? Fans are also curious about who actually will do the soundtrack. Various conductors have been announced across the Web as the official selection. Xenite.Org even carried news stories saying the soundtrack work was scheduled to begin in May 2000, but no one is yet on board to do the music (which in all probability doesn't need to be started until 2001).
