Peter Jackson hires new second unit director - Lord of the Rings news - J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings
July 25, 2000 at 02:30:09Cirdan is reporting that a new second unit director has been hired.
Geoff Murphy joins John Mahaffie, who was hired as a second unit director in 1999. Mahaffie is best known internationally for his work on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Murphy has worked on Goodbye Pork Pie, Utut and The Quiet Earth.
Filming resumed on Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" on Monday after a winter hiatus. Principal photography is scheduled to end around December or January (or as late as next April according to an unconfirmed rumor).
