Our announcement about the newly published Hebrew translation of "Is your canon on the loose?" reminded us that the Greek translation project was never given its full due.
Last June, Stephanos C. Siopoulos (Frealaf to his fellow Greek fans) contacted Xenite.Org founder Michael Martinez about authorizing a translation of part or all of Parma Endorion into Greek. Naturally, Michael agreed in exchange for proper credit.
The first translation (of the essay "What does an Elf do in Aman?") was published on November 20, 2002 and made available at http://www.lordoftherings.gr/saga/article.asp?p=studies&articleID=7. Xenite.Org has been plagued by technical issues and our volunteer staff have endured their fair share of life's little trials. What should have been a simple and courteous announcement languished in someone's email for months.
So, with apologies to Frealaf and Ms. Kaethi Carageorgi, the translator of the essay, we now pay our respects to our fellow Greek fans. And on behalf of Michael Martinez and all Tolkien fans, we say, "Thank you!" for your efforts.
