Stuart Devenie (Governor Croque on Jack of All Trades) to play Gandalf in 'Hobbit' stage play

Stuart Devenie, known to fans of the Jack of All Trade Back2Back Action show as Governor Croque, will play Gandalf in an Australian/New Zealand production of The Hobbit.

New Zealand fans will be able to see the production in Wellington at the Westpac St. James Theatre from April 16, 2005 and in Auckland at the Civic Theatre from April 30, 2005.

The World Premier Season of The Hobbit

Written and Directed by Christine Anketell, the production brings to life J.R.R Tolkien's masterpiece, which is the prelude to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. With stunning sets and costumes and extraordinary puppets, Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield will take the audience on an enthralling theatrical journey from a Hobbit hole in Bag End, through The Misty Mountains, Rivendell, Mirkwood, Lake Town and deep into the lair of Smaug, the Dragon of Lonely Mountain.

Experience, live on stage, throughout New Zealand and Australia, the phenomenon that is J.R.R. Tolkien's creation...The Hobbit!

New Zealand audiences will be the first to encounter 40 different characters including Wizards, Hobbits, Dwarves, Trolls, Elves, Goblins and Wargs and enter the world of Tolkien's imagination on stage in what promises to be an unforgettable theatrical journey.
