Quality has become vital to modern business because competition is increasing. Countries which 100 years ago had little to no industrial base are now emerging powerhouses. The Old School industrial nations like the United States have to improve quality and efficiency in production processes to keep costs down and increase profits.
The Six Sigma methodology employs grades of certification. Matt has achieved status as a Black Belt, the second highest certification. That means he leads a team in the development of a quality-focused process. Six Sigma Black Belts and their teams have to crunch a lot of data and provide meaningful reports. They work with powerful mathematical tools and concepts. They also need to be able to recommend and implement improvements in identified areas.

Matt tells us he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1993. A true Yellow Jackets fan, he considers himself fortunate to have attended the school when Tech won the National Football Championship in 1990. He also enjoyed Tech's first Final Four appearance in Basketball in 1991. Even for engineers, life involves hoops, touchdowns, and a little (or a lot of) fun on the side.
