Six Sigma Meets Middle-earth

quality innovations manufacturers introduce into their processes, but we seldom see how quality is actually achieved.

Quality has become vital to modern business because competition is increasing. Countries which 100 years ago had little to no industrial base are now emerging powerhouses. The Old School industrial nations like the United States have to improve quality and efficiency in production processes to keep costs down and increase profits.

iSixSigma - Six Sigma Quality Resources The Six Sigma methodology employs grades of certification. Matt has achieved status as a Black Belt, the second highest certification. That means he leads a team in the development of a quality-focused process. Six Sigma Black Belts and their teams have to crunch a lot of data and provide meaningful reports. They work with powerful mathematical tools and concepts. They also need to be able to recommend and implement improvements in identified areas.

Matt Tinaglia, editor of Understanding Middle-earth. Matt Tinaglia works with engineers and technicians to ensure that Nordson Corp. produces the best quality possible for its customers.
Matt tells us he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1993. A true Yellow Jackets fan, he considers himself fortunate to have attended the school when Tech won the National Football Championship in 1990. He also enjoyed Tech's first Final Four appearance in Basketball in 1991. Even for engineers, life involves hoops, touchdowns, and a little (or a lot of) fun on the side.

Parma Endorion: Essays on Middle-earth, 3rd Edition, is one of the most popular eBooks of all time. With more than 1,000,000 downloads, Parma Endorion is a rare success among free eBooks. It has gained world-wide recognition as an authoritative resource on Tolkien's Middle-earth. Matt Tinaglia designed, formatted, and edited the eBook. He also created the Spanish language edition after the translation was received from the team in Spain. The entire project had stalled by mid-2000, and if Matt had not volunteered his time, the eBook might never have appeared. It was named Top Download of the Year for 2002 by eBooks'n'Bytes within 3 weeks of publication.
