Portrait image of author H.P. Lovecraft.Howard Phillips Lovecraft specialized in writing adventures featuring the macabre and horrific landscapes drawn from the outer borders of the human imagination. He is perhaps most well-known for his Cthulhu Mythos stories, but many of his works have inspired horror movies, such as "Reanimator", as well as games and new adventure stories.

More than 60 movies mark the legacy of H.P. Lovecraft's weird visions of the human experience. The first film adaptation was "The Haunted Palace", made in 1963. The most recent is 2008's "House of Re-Animator". Lovecraft's best-known stories include "The Dunwich Horror" and "At The Mountains of Madness".
