There have been many film and television adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic story
The Lost World. The Coote-Hayes production didn't promise more than a rowling good adventure from the start.
However, the talented cast captured viewer imaginations from the very beginning. The pseudo-scientific bantering between Professors Challenger (Peter McCauley) and Summerlee (Michael Sinelnikoff), the almost innocent attraction between the reporter and the jungle girl (David Orth and Jennifer O'Dell), and the steamy flirtations between the adventurer and the heiress (Will Snow and Rachel Blakely) ensured that each episode had plenty of characterization and plotting.
The exotic locales, fantastic creatures and civilizations, and unending stream of wondrous places helped the show move along for several seasons despite the immensely unpopular loss of Professor Summerlee.
