Dear advertiser,
Thank you for your interest in Xenite.Org. We appreciate your desire to learn more about us. The Xenite.Org network currently generates more than 1,000,000 page views per month. Our Web server logs show that more than 100,000 unique visitors browse Xenite each month. We offer a broad selection of content to the science fiction and fantasy community, including link directories, forums, essays, fan fiction, and original fiction. Including archives on other domains as well as offline archives, any of which may be moved back to Xenite.Org at any time, our content extends to over 50,000 HTML pages. There is usually in excess of 2,000 pages of content on Xenite.Org itself. We manage several subsidiary domains which participate in our wholly owned and operated internal network. Some of the content we carry is made available to us by individuals or commercial domains under certain stipulations or contractual agreements. These terms may not be transferable and may take precedence over new arrangements should we elect to alter our current status. Xenite.Org and its sister sites are privately owned domains. Xenite.Org was founded in 1997 by Michael Martinez. We are not presently incorporated and all contractual agreements will be entered into by Mr. Martinez as an individual until such time as we elect to incorporate. All contracts must stipulate that there will be or allow without penalizing process an automatic 100 per cent, no fee, no penalty transfer of obligations from Mr. Martinez to said corporation. Although we participate in certain affiliate/associate programs, these programs are retained on the basis of performance, as we use the fees we earn to pay our Web-hosting fees and any other associated expenses. We do not guarantee results to any particular merchandising programs nor that we will continue with them for any specific lengths of time. We do operate internal banner networks which help us cross-promote our Web sites. From time to time, at our discretion, we will agree to promote other domains, sometimes commercial domains, in exchange for services or gratuities, provided such promotions do not require extensive redesign on our part. We are most likely to accept affiliate links used in conjunction with banner advertising. We may discontinue the use of banner ads in favor of text ads at our discretion. Merchants using Linkshare, Commission Junction, and Reporting.Net should be aware that Xenite has stopped participating in their programs due to non-performance. Their advertising technologies are too primitive and cumbersome.Our present click-through rates for 468x60 banners are above industry average but commercial banners still experience less than 1% CTR. Our CTRs for 172x60 banners are substantially higher, averaging between 2% and 3% CTRs for Xenite.Org sites. Commercial sites experience 1% or better CTRs. We do not at this time plan to redesign our content to facilitate intrusive, non-standard, or new advertising designs. Some of our older pages may continue to host advertising from previous contracts. We are actively updating our content on a regular basis. Most specifically, we have no wish to support popup ads. Our communities have made it clear they do not like such ads, they do not make purchases through such ads, and they will leave us if we use such ads. If all you have to offer are popups, we are not interested in inflating your click-through ratios, and you cannot pay us enough to sacrifice our user communities for the sake of doing so. POPUPS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. NOR WILL INTRUSIVE FLASH ADS WITH TIMEOUT FEATURES. Because of the conversion time and effort involved, and because of maintenance involved, we require that any prospetive advertisers who wish to enter into contractual relationships beyond typical affiliate agreements agree to a $25,000 advance deposit, payable to Mr. Martinez or the corporation if such a corporation exists. The deposit must be paid by cashiers check in US funds, and is non-refundable. Cashiers check must be received before we undertake any conversions. All revenues from the contract would be deducted against the deposit until you have earned back your $20,000. We make no guarantees that you will recover your costs. Please understand that we are not a business site. We have a large volunteer staff but effectively only one primary Web designer with occasional backup. If you want to put your advertisement on any substantial number of Xenite.Org pages, you're going to have to ensure that our efforts are compensated. If you seriously want to advertise on Xenite.Org, we suggest you be creative and considerate (i.e., don't spam our forums and mailing lists), or get out the checkbook. If you want to buy Xenite.Org and its network of Web sites, we will consider offers starting at $125,000. To acquire the copyright for all original material posted on Xenite.Org by Michael Martinez, we will consider offers starting at $250,000 (the domain comes with it). Original copyrighted material posted by other individuals is not for sale. In our use of the word "bidding", we do not imply or suggest that we will solicit counter offers should a single offer of purchase be tendered. We do not, however, guarantee that multiple offers will not be considered. In the event we receive multiple competitive offers for control of Xenite.Org and its network, we may retain legal counsel for the sake of securing proper advice and guidance on conducting a sale of network assets. We reserve the right to decline all offers tendered. We are not affiliated with Xenite.Com or Xenite.Net.
