J.R.R. TolkienEvery kid who reads the books of J.R.R. Tolkien takes away an image of grandeur, power, and adventure. But the whole fascination with the stories almost always centers on the monsters. J.R.R. Tolkien loved his monsters, including dragons, Balrogs, Dark Lords, Nazgul, and more. How does one even begin to catalogue so many fantasy creatures? When writing The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien had to stop and consider numerous possible outcomes for each branch of his story. He had devoted much of his adult life to creating mythologies and when he began working on the mythology for Middle-earth he had no idea he would be fulfilling a long felt desire: to create an epic saga that would stir the spirits of men. Tolkien had once tried to create a mythology for England, which he called The Book of Lost Tales, but he had long since abandoned that project. J.R.R. Tolkien was, of course, a linguist. Or so we say. He always introduced himself as a philologist and as a classicist. A philologist does not simply study language. He studies the history of language, its origin, its growth and evolution, and the events and cultural aspects that shape and influence the language. So Tolkien is not always well understood. But perhaps the interest people have in The Lord of the Rings is simply based on the high quality of the story itself. Tolkien's prose can be very compelling. It draws the reader into the story and helps the reader envision the world of Middle-earth. Search Engine OptimizationIt's a litte known fact that some science fiction and fantasy Web sites practice search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the practice of designing Web pages so that they present their textual information in a way that shows the search engines that some words are more important than others. By emphasizin a few "key" words on a page, search engine optimizers make the page more relevant to queries that include those words. But though science fiction fan sites may rely upon some search engine optimization techniques, it's rare for them to engage any consultants who offer SEO Services because the best SEO consultants can be very expensive. That is why so many people try to learn search engine optimization for themselves, because then they can perform their own SEO services. It doesn't always work out well, though. With that in mind, one should consider the pros and cons of retaining a search engine optimization consultant who offers SEO services because some consultants may be willing to help out a friend for a minimal fee. It's not as if you can just run out and grab the first guy on the street and say, "Hey! Are you an SEO consultant?" How do you determine if an SEO service is the right one for you? It's a matter of trial and error. A few exceptional Web sites can be listed on the Calypta page that points back to several other Web sites. A good collection of resources helps make it possible for us to find information on the Web. Other Sites (helpful for search engine crawling)
