Fans will be admitted to auditorium 15 of the AMC Gulf Pointe 30 theater at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, December 18. A costume contest will be held and general door prizes awarded. The movie is scheduled to begin precisely at midnight. Prizes include busts of Aragorn and Pippin from Sideshow Toys, AMC tickets, two autographed copies of Visualizing Middle-earth, and other prizes.
Early birds will have the opportunity to eat dinner together at the local Burger King (presumably so fans can clean out the restaurant's inventory of goblets and action figures).
Xenite.Org maintains the oldest continually updated Lord of the Rings movie news site on the Web. We've been keeping Tolkien fans informed since February 1998, and Xenite.Org was the first Web site to break the news that Peter Jackson had landed the financing deal with New Line Cinema. Our forum communities also include a Lord of the Rings forum. And Xenite.Org founder Martinez writes a regular column on Tolkien and Middle-earth for Suite101.

OF THEONERINGšS OPENING NIGHT LINE PARTIES
(NORFOLK, Va. December 11, 2001) On December 19th, Tolkien fans will gather to celebrate the launch of the movie they have awaited for decades. "Line Parties" are being organized across the world for The Lord of the Rings fans who plan to get in line early for tickets to ensure that they see The Fellowship of the Ring the day it hits theaters. Decipher and theonering.net will be there to make sure the party is a success.
"These Line Parties are a way for fans from all over the world to organize, plan, and meet Tolkien fans in their cities before the release of The Fellowship of the Ring," says Michael Regina of theonering.net.
"The response to this concept has been fantastic. We currently have 341 lines with 2,618 members on board, and the numbers are growing daily."
Line party events vary per city and theater. Events include charity fundraisers, trading card game demos, costume contests, trivia contests, exciting Decipher Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game and Fan Club giveaways, and more!
