Over the past few months, Xenite.Org addresses have been inundated with unsolicited email from spammers and virus-infected computers. We finally implemented filters which cut down on the torrent of unwanted messages, but in doing so we accidentally blocked all incoming email from legitimate AT&T addresses.
The filters will remain in place and will be reviewed on occasion. If you send a message to someone at Xenite.Org and you receive a notice saying "Reason: sorry, your envelope sender is in my badmailfrom list (#5.7.1)", then we have most likely blocked your domain from sending email to us.
Regrettably, many people's email addresses have been forged by both spammers and the Klez.H virus. We block individual email addresses where possible, but sometimes we just block entire domains. We have no choice, since many people have bookmarked Xenite.Org addresses through the years and the number of infected systems increases.
We recommend that all visitors to Xenite.Org visit one of the major anti-viral sites and use their free tools to ensure your computers are not infected with specific worms and viruses such as NIMDA and Klez.H. The two most popular sites are:
NIMDA cannot infect our server, but it does produce many attacks on Xenite.Org and other servers as it seeks out vulnerable machines.
And you should never do business with any company which sends you unsolicited email. This only encourages them to continue stealing resources from servers. Most business people are unaware that the spammers are using stealth techniques to use other people's servers. And the majority of so-called opt-in mailing lists that businesses purchase are fraudulent lists. Certain Xenite.Org addresses which have never been submitted to mailing lists have been repeatedly spammed by so-called "opt-in" mailers.
NEVER REPLY TO THESE LISTS WITH REMOVE REQUESTS, either. Sending a remove request only confirms that your email address is a good one.
