Michael Martinez publishes 'Visualizing Middle-earth'

October 18, 2000 at 13:26:38

Michael Martinez, the owner of Xenite.Org, has just published his first book about J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Visualizing Middle-earth brings together essays Martinez has written about Middle-earth in 1999 and 2000, providing a unique analysis of Tolkien's mythical age in our past unlike any other previously published.

The author's eye roves from Bree to Rohan, the past to the future, and from fun to controversy, tackling many difficult subjects such as whether Balrogs have wings, the Rohirrim were Medieval, and who might be a good choice to play the wife of Isildur (a character never named in the books).

Martinez has advised several companies and written content under contract about J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. His research into Tolkien's world is widely acknowledged, and Parma Endorion: Essays on Middle-earth has been cited by students around the world in papers ranging from high school or secondary term papers up to Masters' theses and Ph.D. dissertations.

Visualizing Middle-earth is currently available from Xlibris, a publishing services provider, for $16.00 per trade paperback and $10.00 per electronic book. The book should begin appearing in the catalogues of various onlne sellers such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and BooksAMillion within a few weeks.

The ISBN is 0-7388-3408-4. Any bookseller willing to take special orders should be able to get the book. Xlibris promises delivery within 4-6 weeks, but they have been testing a new distributor who may speed up delivery. Some customers are reporting 2 week delivery times in recent weeks.
