Originally called "Talk About J.R.R. Tolkien: A Guide to Tolkien Discussion on the Web", the directory has been retitled J.R.R Tolkien and Middle-earth Articles and Links, which we feel is more important.
Although we have restored most of the content which was lost in the server crash, we have removed a few links and added a couple. But the directory remains very much the same. Which is both a good thing and a bad thing. We have not had time to validate all the links, and we do apologize if some deadwood remains in the directory.
But these sites were selected for the quality of their research. We did not simply compile a list of Tolkien-related sites (other people have been doing that for years) or even just a list of the most popular sites (why bother, since everyone else links to them?).
The entries in the Tolkien Articles Directory represent a quality above the typical fan site. While many more sites now surely exist which should also be included in the directory, it will take time for us to fully update it. But as people continued to search for (and not find) that old directory, we felt it was time to put it back in place.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of Xenite.Org and its content. Your understanding and patience through the years and the growing pains we have experienced have meant a great deal to all of us.
