You've seen them in movie theaters, video stores, music stores, and bookstores: cardboard cutouts, often life-sized, of characters from movies, musicians, and so forth.

Standups are great conversation starters, useful for setting up large displays at conventions and flea markets, and they make fun gifts for friends, relatives, and special someones.
