What bothered us is why so many law firms seem keen on finding Mesothelioma sufferers to represent. We didn't realize there was a connection between the asbestos problem and mesothelioma. In fact, mesothelioma is one of the cancers (and perhaps one of the worst) that you can contract after exposure to asbestos.
Given all the billions of dollars that have been paid out to remove asbestos from hospitals, schools, public buildings, and even private homes and other structures, it's an unfortunate consequence of our history that many people were exposed to asbestos while installing it, living and working near it, and in removing it from older buildings.
The good news is that only 2-3,000 cases develop each year. The bad news is that you may have to wait 20-40 years to learn if you'll develop mesothelioma.
Check out our Mesothelioma page for more information. We link to some very good resources that help explain what the risks and symptoms are. Oh, and if you don't have cancer yet, look into what you need to do to get a cancer policy.
