The Children of Hurin is most likely the last original work to be published under the name of J.R.R. Tolkien, although it may only be a narrative written by his son Christopher in consultation with the various Hurin/Turin texts.
The story of the children of Hurin was published in abbreviated format in The Silmarillion. Additional sections were published as "Narn i Chin Hurin" in Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth, but a third section called "The Wanderings of Hurin" was also published in The War of the Jewels.
What materials will Christopher Tolkien include in this new book? Will there be additional, previously unpublished information? Will there be editorial commentary such as he published in the twelve-volume History of Middle-earth series?
Tolkien fans are eagerly awaiting this book, which may raise more questions than it answers.
