The comment that drew Tara's attention was this paragraph on the first page of our Mizuo Peck section:
Mizuo's magic is not just her beauty, but the grace she brings to the role of America's second most famous Native American woman (only Pocahantas has received more attention through the centuries). Many Native Americans were disappointed to learn that this role was given to someone of different ethnic heritage, but then no one in the Italian community complained that the role of Octavius (Augustus Caesar) was given to a British actor (Steve Coogan). In the end, the movie is what it is.
With Tara's permission, we have shared her thoughts on why Native Americans feel so deeply about the issue of casting Mizuo in the role of Sacagawea.
Something we noticed a few weeks ago, but which we have not included on our Mizuo site is that the Internet Movie Database says Mizuo Peck is part Native American herself. We don't know where this information comes from, but if we can confirm it in any way we'll update our Mizuo information.
