The early birds who signed up for Thenamir's mailing list at TheOneRing.Net met for dinner around 7PM at the Bennigan's restaurant which is located across the parking lot from the AMC Gulf Pointe 30 theater. Thenamir was running a little late, so after the news crew from Channel 39 (hi, Elizabeth!) got some footage and interviews, Michael invited everyone to move inside. Eventually, more than 20 people had dinner together.
Some of the first people to be seated got the center row of tables. We actually had quite a few folks sitting off to the side.
Vince Smith (Thenamir) and his wife arrived a little late but their kids had saved them seats. Vince made a pretty good Gandalf the White. He had actually brought a staff, but sadly the Smith Family Special Effects Studio was not up to Weta standards. Rumor has it that the staff-head suffered a meltdown shortly after Vince applied a magical spray to it. But Glamdring was used to make significant points in several debates throughout the evening....
