Pirates of Venus Movie!

Angelic Pictures has purchased the film rights to all five Amtor books! The Pirates of Venus movie should be released by 2010.

Xenite.Org has now launched its own Pirates of Venus movie fan site and our exclusive content includes questions and answers provided by Angelic Pictures. You can share your thoughts and questions in our Pirates of Venus movie discussion on SF-Fandom.

And you can also keep up with the latest news about the John Carter of Mars movie in our Edgar Rice Burroughs and Pulp Authors Forum.

Photo of Edgar Rice Burroughs with Mars, Earth, and sun. This page was created to keep alive the links which were previously found on the http://www.tarzan.com/ Web site. Originally a fan site, Tarzan.com was taken over by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. in 1998. Not all the links found on that page will be here. Some of the sites have disappeared, but some of them did not interest me and I suspect they are to be found elsewhere in online ERB fandom. So I've decided to concentrate on the sites I think are the most interesting, and there are many links here I found on my own.

ERB-related links

  1. Barsoom: The Lost Chronicles
Summaries of some of the "lost" manuscripts of Edgar Rice Burroughs, as well as some humorous (and speculative) comments on ERB plots and how Hollywood might treat the books.
  2. Barsoom Natural History Museum

  3. The Barsoomian Glossary

  4. The Barsoomian Blade
Political satire that even a Jeddak could appreciate (well, maybe not the Jeddak of Helium).
  5. The Barsoomian Blade's Chat Room
Now ERB fans can discuss their favorite pulp author in a real-time chat environment every Sunday at 3PM Eastern Standard Time (for Trivia) and every Monday at 10PM EST (for general discussions). JAVA-enabled browsers required.
  6. BUNKUM -- Matt's Tarzan Movie Guide

  7. Danish ERB Bibliography

  8. Edgar Rice Burroughs -- Burroughs Bibliophiles -- Home of the Burroughs Bulletin Online
    Information-packed fannish organization site.
  9. Edgar Rice Burroughs: Creator of Tarzan
This is the original Tarzan.com Web site. ERB, Inc. acquired ownership of the domain but they seem only to have parked it with no apparent intention of developing the resource, which is a shame. I include the link here in case the site becomes active again.
  10. Edgar Rice Burroughs: Motes and Quotes

  11. Edgar Rice Burroughs' Movie Making Locations Guidebook

  12. ERBAtlas
This site contains some ERB-related maps I haven't seen before (scanned in). The source information is provided and you have the option of downloading a font that closely resembles the font used in early ERB books. The pages use that font.
  13. Fantastic Adventure World of Edgar Rice Burroughs (Japanese)

  14. Hal Foster

  15. I ROMANZI DI TARZAN

  16. IL TARZAN ILLUSTRATO

  17. Nederlandse Bibliografie van Edgar Rice Burroughs

  18. Open Directory Project: Edgar Rice Burroughs Links
A rather comprehensive collection of links to ERB sites. I don't know what standards of quality are being applied (if any).
  19. Pellucidar

  20. Remembering Burne Hogarth

  21. Richard Garrison's Art of the Fantastic
    Includes Ray G. Krenkel art.

  22. Taking Tarzan Seriously

  23. Tangor's ERB FAQ page

  24. Tarzan: The Legacy of Edgar Rice Burroughs
    A & E's biography of ERB.
  25. Tardos Mors' Home Page

  26. Tarzan Meets The 21st Century

  27. Tarzan of the Comics -- Usually Better Than The Movies

  28. Tarzan Of The Internet
A comprehensive site which contains many, many links to other ERB sites, as well as some interesting maps of Africa, a glossary for the language of the Apes, a list of all the characters from the Tarzan novels, and more.
  29. The Wold Newton Universe
Expands on Philip José Farmer's suggested connections for all the great pulp and mystery heroes, including many if not all of ERB's.
