Who makes the dip?
- http://www.specialcheese.com/ offers a queso blanco that "becomes soft and creamy when heated but will not melt!". They offer a number of recipes for various other cheeses, including a queso quesadilla and an asadero. I have not tried any of their cheeses.
- http://www.gordos.cc/ offers a genuine restaurant-quality white cheese dip. I have tried the product and it matches my expectations perfectly. I even set up a cheese dip party at work one week and people loved it. Gordos' is now being distributed through some grocery stores throughout the southeastern United States.
- Land'O'Lakes makes a good white cheese dip. At one time, it was available through Kroger grocery stores, but I was told in late 2001 that Land'O'Lakes only sells the dip to food services.
December 21, 2001 -- Back in October, I heard from N Flowers, who pointed me to this Land O' Lakes Web page listing cheese sauces they sell to restaurants. It's impossible to tell from the descriptions if any of these are the cheese dip we all crave.
Okay, on May 8, 2006, we received an anonymous link to Land'O'Lakes White American Cheese, complete with picture. I have never seen this product in stores, but I do believe all the people who tell me they bought it. Thank you, to our anonymous friend.
