Andre Norton's Witch World

Links To Witch World Fan Sites

Some of these sites are quite old and they were members of the now-defunct Andre Norton Webring. I closed down the Webring because many of the site owners failed to keep the code up-to-date. When you visit the sites you may find some password boxes kicking in. I find I'm able to close them. However, clicking on the Webring links will be unproductive.

Elwher's Witch World Wiki
Any attempt to create a Wiki-like site earns my respect. It takes so much time and hard work to create the pages I find such projects to be rather daunting. Elwher joined the SF-Fandom Andre Norton forum in January 2009. This site organizes all the stories in bibliographical format. Should be a good research site. http://elwher.wikidot.com/

Jay Watts' Andre Norton Books site
This site is still being updated. Jay joined the SF-Fandom Andre Norton forum in September 2004. http://nortonbooks.bravehost.com/Index.htm

Indagare's "Ordering of the Years" thread
SF-Fandom member Indagare wrote out a detailed list of named years from the Witch World books. http://www.sf-fandom.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=25774

Teresa Mercado's Witch World site
It has been several years since Teresa updated the site and some of the gizmos (such as the hit counter) no longer work but this is one of the oldest fan sites on the Web. http://www.geocities.com/athens/acropolis/6985/

Cora-lea Morrisey's Witch World site
This site is actually titled the Andre Norton Shared Worlds - Witch World site. It contains some nice map scans. In fact, I copied some of those scans and shrank them for this site. Always meant to give her proper credit. Better late than never, I suppose. http://www.koresworld.com/wworld/index.html

Rhe Lynn's Andre Norton Room
This is another old site but it still has some cover scans. http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/3161/Norton/Norton.html

Tribute Farm's Andre Norton page
If you love horses you'll enjoy this site but the owner is a huge Andre Norton fan. http://www.angelfire.com/wi/tributefarm/andrenorton.html

Lucy Day's Andre Norton page
I don't recall having ever communicated with Lucy Day. There are many cover scans and book listings on this page. http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~aahobor/Lucy-Day/Authors/Norton.shtml

Mike Grimm's Witch World page
This is another cover scan archive. Some pretty good scans in this collection. http://www.fowlervillehistory.org/andrenorton/witchworld/

Debbie Ledesma's Andre Norton Essay
This is an old essay on Suite101 in the Science Fiction and Fantasy section. Suite101 was a Web publishing community back in those days, paying its contributing editors a monthly stipend. I'm not sure if there is more Andre Norton content there now. http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/fantasy_worlds/51224

Dani Zweig's Belated Review of Andre Norton
This review of Andre Norton's fiction is thoughtful and concise. It provides one fan's perspective on Andre's work. http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~susan/sf/dani/UR_007.htm

Essay: The Formulaic and Rites of Translation In Andre Norton's Magic Series
C.W. Sullivan III wrote this essay several years ago. It's quite extensive and provides many citations. I am linking to the archive.org copy from November 2004. I don't know if there is a more recent version of the essay anywhere on the Web. http://wpl.lib.in.us/roger/MAGIC.HTML

Ohio Reading Road Trip's Andre Norton Biography
Okay, this is a biographical essay about Andre Norton. The site is provided by the Greater Dayton Public Television Network. http://www.orrt.org/norton/

Ray Thompson interview with Andre Norton
In 1991 Raymond Thompson interviewed Andre Norton at the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts in Florida. Thompson was especially interested in Arthurian and medieval romance. http://www.lib.rochester.edu/CAMELOT/intrvws/norton.htm

Adam Burton's Review of Witch World
Not a very long review but it's significant in that SciFi Weekly featured the book as part of its Classic SciFi series in 2006. http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue176/classic.html

SFWA Obituary and Tribute page for Andre Norton
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association of America wasted no time in erecting a tribute page for Andre after she died in 2005. There are some very moving comments preserved here. http://www.sfwa.org/news/anorton.htm

Project Gutenberg eTexts of Andre Norton Books
Project Gutenberg was founded in 1969 for the purpose of preserving public domain books in electronic format. I don't know how these titles entered the public domain.
