No one has managed to turn a character around in either Hercules: The Legendary Journeys or Xena: Warrior Princess faster than Reneé O'Connor. Gabrielle was considered to be extremely annoying by many fans in the first half of the first season of Xena: Warrior Princess, but somewhere along the way Reneé found that touch of magic which endeared her (and her character) to a majority of the audience.

Yet such recognition didn't come easily. The character of Ares has on more than one occasion referred to Gabrielle as Xena's "annoying little friend", perhaps showing that the writers are not out of touch with their audience at all. Thus when Ares lost his godhood in "Ten Little Warlords" it seemed rather fitting that he should suddenly find something to admire in Gabrielle's spunk-and-fire-filled wrath. He was speaking for the viewers again when he declared, "I LIKE it!"

The growing number of Reneé O'Connor web sites is a testimonial to Reneé's strength of character and acting skill. Her good looks certainly haven't hurt her in the least.
